This is a transcript of the stone statue ritual
that I performed a couple of hours ago here at Melbourne Cemetery. And tonight
I vented out my anger upon the stone statue of Jesus Christ about art that
comes from society's art institutions. Because I personally do not like the art
that comes from society's art institutions - And in the institutional Arts
Precinct - the main demographic of people that go to watch the institutional
arts are middle-age and mid-life crisis, bourgeois baby-boomers, middle to
upper-class, alcoholic and antidepressant addicted, malicious pretentious
people - And they all rush in at the last moment to see their institutional art
show - and then as soon as it finishes they all rush out in their cars and
leave - and both the rushing in and out of the institutional art show(s), and
the expression on their faces after they have left the institutional art show -
reveals that they have not been affected in any way by the institutional art
show that they just saw and/or heard - For the only reason that they go to
those institutional art shows is to brag to their high society, bourgeois,
middle and upper-class friends how they have just been to the opera, and/or the
ballet, and/or the theatre - despite the fact that they were not emotionally,
mentally or artistically affected by the institutional art show that they just
saw and/or heard. And when it comes to institutional art that tries to replicate
a modern non-institutional art form, especially underground art that has become
popular for a period in the mainstream - the replication of the
non-institutional art by the institutional art is always corny and contrived,
and it always lacks the intensity of the non-institutional art it is trying to
replicate in its institutional art process and environment - And those are the
reasons that institutional art makes me feel empty and angry.
