Tonight in this diary data entry I want to make a
statement about gambling for money - because I personally am against gambling
for money - and I also have never had the desire to gamble for money in my life
and I still do not understand why people gamble for money and I can find no
justification for anyone to gamble for money - because in my life I have
watched people use and steal and destroy their life and the lives of other
people because of their gambling addiction - and I have also known people who
have committed suicide because their gambling problem destroyed their life and
the lives of those around them - and it makes me both sad and sick to watch so
many of the masses of suburbia get their hopes up each week as they gamble and
hope to win big money - because hope is something that is important and
necessary to me - especially because of all the hardship, abuse and real-life
horror that I have experienced in my life - and so for people to put their
hopes into something like gambling and winning big money each week to me is a
violation of the true nature of what hope is really meant to be - for hope is
something that you use - especially in the most harshest and horrible times -
to focus on and get yourself through and to try and make your existence better
in the way and/or ways that you want to make yourself and your existence better
- and some people might say that putting your hopes into becoming successful
and supporting yourself and making a living as an artist is a form of gambling
and a big gamble in life because it is very hard to be successful as an artist
- especially in the context of the relative small amount of artists in the
world who become successful with their artwork as compared to all those artists
who never make it with their artwork and who are also never able to
unfortunately financially support themselves with their artwork - and so having
devoted my life to being an artist - I have denied myself opportunities -
especially educational opportunities, financially rewarding career
opportunities and social opportunities - so I can have the necessary time and
energy to focus on and do my artwork - and so it is possible to say that in
some ways to devote your life to being an artist is a big gamble - and in this
context it is specifically a big gamble on your whole life - but it is the only
gamble with any worth and sense of integrity and worth taking - because even if
you do not succeed in your artistic goals at least you created something and
left behind something of meaning and value to yourself and hopefully also to
other people both when you are alive and once you are dead - and so yes it is a
big gamble for me to have devoted my life to being an artist - because I take
the risk of never being successful with my artwork and remaining poor and
living in hardship until I die - however even if I was never successful with my
artwork at least I spent my life doing what I am passionate about - however
having said that it is also always important to try and also be successful with
you artwork - and whilst trying to be successful with your artwork it is also
extremely important to keep creating and putting your artwork out there to the
world - which I am now doing through writing these diary data entries of mine
on the internet on the world-wide-web.
